Review of Thomas Sweet

So Thomas Sweet is not my favorite ice cream place in DC. In fact, I almost always head across the street to Dolcezza.

However, if I were a kid, I would probably like Thomas Sweet better than anyplace. They have all the ice cream flavors kids like and a zillion toppings. They have fudge and birthday cakes and plenty of places to sit and gorge on them.

So, if you are looking for incredible flavors, go to Dolcezza. If you want great ice cream and gruff service, go to Larry's. But if you have a troop of little ones you need to distract with vanilla wafer and m&m topped cookie dough ice cream, Thomas Sweet it is.

Review of Larry's Ice Cream

As much as I love to eat Larry's ice cream, I think I would go there just for the service. The staff are officially known around town as the "scoop nazis." It's like a piece of Brooklyn (or Seinfeld) in DC.

When asked if he was going to vote for Obama, my favorite scoop nazi said something to the effect of "What the f*&^ choice do we have. The other guys f%$#ing a hundred years old."

As for the ice cream, it is creamy and delicious. My personal favorite is the cinnamon cookie, which has big chewy chunks of oatmeal cookie immersed in cinnamon fabulousness. Truth be told, I haven't tried many other flavors. I'm too addicted to that one.

Review of Dolcezza

That man is about five minutes away from a food orgasm. He is standing at the counter of Dolcezza, an Argentinian gelato place in Georgetown.

Dolcezza has become something of an obsession of mine. There was a couple months there where Chris was biking down to Georgetown every Friday to pick up our weekly pints. (Yes, that is pints with an s.)

The flavors range from your standard chocolate or coffee to lime-cilantro and tangerine-honey-cardamom. The creamy gelatos are unbelievably smooth. The icier ones are so refreshing, you've devoured a pint before you even realize what you are doing.

If you are ever in DC, go to Dolcezza. Period.
